Description

A very rare and historically interesting Suntory Hakushu Single Cask Whisky, originating from a special Suntory whisky-making project held at Hakushu Distillery in 2000.

In 2000, Suntory organized a Millennium commemorative program titled “The Gift of Time and Nature.” As part of this project, Suntory held an “Original Whisky Workshop – 10-Year Malt Whisky Making” program at the Hakushu and Yamazaki distilleries.

According to Suntory’s official record of the project, participants took part in creating their original whisky in 2000, after which the whisky was matured for approximately 10 years. In 2010, the casks reached their planned cask-opening stage, with special events arranged at the Hakushu and Yamazaki distilleries.

This particular bottle originates from the Hakushu Distillery project and was bottled from a single individual cask.

A Special Release — Not a Standard Single Cask Collection or Owner’s Cask Bottle

Although this is a genuine single cask whisky, it should not be confused with Suntory’s conventional Hakushu Single Cask Collection releases.

It is also distinct from Suntory’s later Owner’s Cask program, which was launched after this 2000 project.

Instead, this bottle traces its origins to Suntory’s special Millennium participant whisky-making program, in which whisky created through the project was allowed to mature for approximately ten years before the cask-opening stage in 2010.

This gives the bottle a particularly interesting provenance: it represents not simply a commercial single-cask release, but a whisky connected directly to a special participatory project at Hakushu Distillery.

The unique label bearing the name “静秋”, the date October 13, 2000, numerous participant-related signatures, and the individual Cask No. EJ41837 further distinguish this bottle.

Original Presentation Box & Booklet

The bottle comes with its original Suntory Single Cask Whisky presentation packaging, including the white outer presentation sleeve and dark-colored inner box.

The presentation box itself reads:

“SUNTORY SINGLE CASK WHISKY
This whisky is exclusively bottled from the one and only cask.”

An original accompanying booklet is also included.

The combination of the individual single-cask bottle, unique commemorative label, original presentation packaging and booklet makes this an especially complete and fascinating example for collectors.

Condition

The bottle appears to retain its original black capsule/closure. The fill level is high, extending well into the neck.

The main commemorative label and rear Japanese label are both present and clearly legible.

The original presentation packaging is included. The outer box/sleeve shows age-related spotting, discoloration, light staining, scuffs and edge/corner wear. The inner dark-colored box also shows some storage wear.

Original booklet is included.

サントリー白州蒸溜所の歴史の中でも、非常に珍しい背景を持つ特別なシングルカスクウイスキーです。

サントリーは2000年、ミレニアム企画「時と自然の贈り物」の一環として、山崎蒸溜所・白州蒸溜所において「オリジナルウイスキー工房 10年モルト原酒づくり」を実施しました。

サントリーの公式記録によると、参加者は2000年にオリジナルウイスキーづくりに参加。そのウイスキーは樽の中で約10年間熟成され、2010年に樽払いを迎えるという、10年という時間そのものを企画に組み込んだ特別なイベントでした。

本品は、その白州蒸溜所で行われた2000年の企画に由来するシングルカスクボトルです。

また、後に開始されたサントリーの「オーナーズカスク」とも異なります。

本品の原点はそれ以前の2000年。サントリーのミレニアム企画として白州蒸溜所で行われた参加型ウイスキーづくりから始まり、その後約10年間の熟成期間を経て2010年に樽払いを迎えたものです。

状態

写真上、黒いキャップ／カプセル部分は良好に保たれており、液面もネック部分まで高い状態です。フロントの記念ラベル、裏面ラベルともに残っており、文字も明瞭に確認できます。

専用化粧箱には長期保管による薄いシミ、変色、擦れ、角・縁の傷みなどがあります。濃色の内箱にも保管に伴う擦れ等が見られます。冊子も付属します。
