The Legacy of Hanyu Distillery
Hanyu Distillery was a historic Japanese whisky distillery located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
Whisky production at Hanyu ceased in 2000, and its traditional Scottish-style distilling equipment was dismantled in 2004 following a change of ownership.
Fortunately, the remaining whisky stocks and distillery-related assets were preserved through the efforts of Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of Hanyu's founder.
Ichiro Akuto subsequently established Chichibu Distillery, where whisky production began in 2008.
This 23-year-old expression is a remarkable connection to the original Hanyu Distillery and the early history of Ichiro's Malt.

羽生蒸溜所の歴史
羽生蒸溜所は、埼玉県に存在した日本のウイスキー蒸溜所です。
2000年にウイスキーの製造を停止し、2004年には経営環境の変化により蒸溜設備が撤去されました。
しかし、羽生蒸溜所の創業家に生まれた肥土伊知郎氏によって、残された貴重なウイスキー原酒が引き継がれました。
その後、肥土氏は秩父蒸溜所を設立し、2008年から新たなウイスキー造りを開始しました。
本品は、現在では新たに造ることのできない羽生蒸溜所の原酒を使用した、歴史的な価値を持つボトルです。
23年熟成の特徴
日本語裏ラベルには、羽生蒸溜所で造られたシングルモルトを、伝統的なホグスヘッド樽、バーボン樽、シェリー樽で再熟成した原酒を使用している旨が記載されています。
