Description:
A rare and highly aged independent bottling of Tomatin 1970, released by Douglas Laing & Co. Ltd. as part of its well-known The Old Malt Cask series.

Distilled at Tomatin Distillery in December 1970 and bottled in May 2011, this Highland single malt was matured for an impressive 40 years.

The label states that the whisky was drawn from a Refill Hogshead, DL Ref 7273, with a total outturn of only 168 bottles, making this a particularly limited long-aged single-cask release.

Bottled at a natural cask strength of 44.3% ABV in a 700ml format, the Old Malt Cask presentation states “No Chill Filtration • No Colouring • No Nonsense.”

The label also carries tasting notes describing the nose as softly spiced, lightly lemony/citric, honeyed and sugary; the palate as sweetly fruited, subtly oaked, with more honey and barley; and the finish as having a warming cough-drop style with a late vanilla character.

The whisky displays a rich golden-amber colour. The liquid level appears to sit within the neck and is clearly visible in the supplied photographs.

A Japanese importer label is attached to the rear of the bottle.

The original green The Old Malt Cask presentation box is included. The box shows some age and storage wear, particularly around the upper flaps, corners and edges, but remains generally presentable. An Old Malt Cask promotional booklet/card is also included as shown in the photographs.

本品は1970年12月にトマーティン蒸溜所で蒸溜され、2011年5月に瓶詰めされたもので、熟成年数は実に40年となります。

ラベルにはRefill Hogshead / DL Ref 7273と記載されており、この樽からボトリングされた本数はわずか168本。長期熟成かつ少量生産の希少なオールド・モルト・カスクです。

アルコール度数は44.3%、容量700ml。ラベルには“AT NATURAL CASK STRENGTH”と記載され、シリーズの特徴である“NO CHILL FILTRATION • NO COLOURING • NO NONSENSE”の表記も確認できます。

ラベルにはテイスティングコメントも記載されており、香りは柔らかなスパイス、軽いレモン／シトラス、蜂蜜や砂糖を思わせるニュアンス、味わいは甘いフルーツ、控えめな樽香、蜂蜜や大麦、フィニッシュには温かみのあるキャンディ／のど飴系のニュアンスと遅れて現れるバニラのキャラクターが表現されています。
