Description:
A rare independently bottled Caol Ila 1983 28 Year Old, released by Tokyo-based 3Rivers Ltd. as part of its 10th Anniversary bottlings.
This release is titled “The Dance” and features a distinctive illustrated dancing figure on the burgundy-coloured front label.
According to the bottle labels, the whisky was distilled at Caol Ila on 12 October 1983 and bottled on 9 August 2012, after 28 years of maturation.
It was matured in Bourbon Hogshead Cask No. 4812 and bottled at a robust 54.8% ABV, in a 700ml format.
Only 233 bottles were produced, making this a notably limited release. The front label is individually hand-numbered, although the handwritten bottle number is not perfectly clear in the photographs and should therefore be judged directly from the images.
The rear label also includes original tasting notes. The Japanese text indicates aromas/flavours including meaty or smoked character, lemon candy, bacon, lemon sherbet, and a smoky/citrus finish.
The liquid level is visible in the neck and shows noticeable headspace. The fill appears to sit around the lower-to-mid neck area; please judge the exact level from the photographs.
The main label appears generally clean and well preserved, with the artwork, distillery details and bottling information remaining clearly legible. A detailed Japanese rear label is also present.
